Journal poetry 3

I tore this flesh apart in search of truth.
I bled to release because
all I really wanted was to escape self.my whole life
was one big act
-ing out, cry for help
but wanting to fix it myself.
I couldn’t fix it. I couldn’t escape it.
Misery.
I knew it.
From the depths of my fenced-off heart,
I felt it.
I had trapped it
behind barriers built unknowingly.
My soul vacant,
my heart weighted,
my mind always bursting –
there are still dangers wandering there,
but now,
they tread cautious and seldom.
Once rulers of this body
but now,
these thoughts cower before the Newness within me.
Death led me, but Life has found me
and I stand up tall.
