October Cat Attacks

I've been writing a lot of poetry due to my creative writing class this semester. This one is in response to a horribly boring poem we were assigned to read. I believe my version is better.

The cat that attacks me

is not house broken.

color of chocolate chips and

ashes in tapioca pudding.

He cradles my heart strings

strums a song

no one cares to hear,

a fiddle

in the dark,

alone in alleyways

clichéd

leaves puddles by the bed.

I’ve tried to let him go

Watch him lope

blurring legs

and four big paws.

He returns hours later

rabbit in his teeth

missing its feet.

Good boy,

the presents you bring.

A soft outer coat,

you retract

hollow claws

and walk all over me.
